December 4, 2010, I attended my second Patriot Hunts event. It was at the Allen Brothers Hunting Preserve and had the opportunity to take my son along. This is the first time my son had been out to hunt with me. It wasnt actually a hunt, but it was a great time for Wounded Warriors to attend an event and bring family members to share in a day of great company, great food, and the chance to teach and mentor new shooters. The smile on my 13 year old son’s face told the story of the day. We had a great day of bonding and learning together. The Allen Brothers were excellent hosts and worked with a local church group to provide 5 star treatment to Wounded Warriors and our families. These are the kind of events that allow us to pass along some of our passions as sports men, that most of us could not do on our own due to physical limitations. Thank you Patriot Hunts, Combat Vets Motorcycle Association, the parachute freefall team, Allen Brothers, and their community friends, your support is second to none. Keep up the good work, and thank you again, Trevor Peterson.

What an incredible day to honor our nation’s heros! Once again, the Allen Brothers Hunting Preserve hosted a premiere event for our Wounded Warriors. I am a proud supportor of Patriot Hunts and I must say that Pam & Ken Barnard are true patriots that everyone should emulate. Their passion is sincere and I am so proud to call them my friends. Looking forward to the next event and I thank you for everything you do for our soldiers.

  3. Happy New Year to all at Husky Liners! Thanks for the continued support of Patriot Hunts and our mission. We look forward to 2011, and already have a number of events planned once again. This past year was filled with a great number of high’s and low’s to say the least. The low’s being, listening and hearing heartbreaking stories from these soldiers and their families of the setbacks, the injuries, and the loss that many of them have experienced, whether through their own experiences, or that of a fellow soldier or the lose of a brother in arms. Being involved with the Gold Star Families of fallen soldiers is something we had not counted on, but are truely humbled and blessed to be a part of their lives. When we host these families, I may be crying on the inside knowing their stories, but I am rejoycing on the outside, knowing they are all so excited to be there, possibly their first time in the field, and also knowing if their dads could see them now, they would be so proud of their kids, seeing how much fun they are having, at least on this day. We can never, ever replace their dads, but what we can do is give these children, our time and efforts, and a opportunity to experience what their dads loved to do, and let them decide for themselves if this is something they wish to pursue in life. Seeing these soldiers walking with canes, or even worse, the lose of a limb, sometimes seeing the pain on their faces just from standing or sitting, is very hard at times. These warriors may be hurting on the inside, but they are smiling on the outside, and having the time of their lives. They constantly endure the pain of their injuries and take the time to come out and be with Patriot Hunts, the least I can do is put my emotions aside during these events, which is hard, and press forward making sure they have the best time possible. What a great feeling…
Thank you all for the support.

  4. Lays Lake Hunting Club hosted it’s first “Wounded Warrior” hog hunt on March 25-26 recently. Thanks to the effots and leadership of Brian Maloschi, and the entire Lays Lake Hunting Club for approaching us with this wonderful offer to take these wounded veterans on this fantastic hog hunting adventure. I personally have hunted my whole life and have never experienced something as intense as this! Our host’s for the weekend greeted all of us with open arms and hospitality, situated on this beautiful 1600 acre piece of property. From the time we arrived we all were treated as if we were old friends, all of these soldiers not only had the bond of being brothers in arms, but could all relate to having been injured while in combat. There were not only local business people who helped and donated their time and resources, but alot of former soldiers and retirees who felt like they also needed to come out and fellowship and give something back to their brothers who are still actively taking the fight to our enemies. There were all types of gifts handed out to these men, from firearms, to clothing, to bows, so much so I could not keep up with everything, the food was fantastic,we did not go hungry at all let me tell you. This hunt was not only about chasing down and hunting hogs, and harvesting some great pork for the grill later, it was taking the time to take a break from this fast paced world we live in, and to take a deep breath, regroup within ourselves, pack our bags and make the decission to come out to this great hunting club, and share a campfire and stories with some of America’s finest. Let me say that I have been fortunate to share many a hunt, many a meal, laughed and cried with many a soldier during such great events as this one at Lays Lake Hunting Club this weekend, and when it comes right down to it, it is truely not about the hunt, or the quarry we pursue, but it is in fact about the friendships we make, the stories we share, and the memories we build. For those that appreciate all that our military provides for us and this nation, and actually take the time to not only say thank you, but to invest their time and help honor those that have given so much in the name of freedom for this country, not only through time away from families, but with lose of limb’s and sometimes lose of life, all of us at Patriot Hunts give thanks to you, and all of these patriots should be very proud of their efforts this weekend in making this such a great event.

Brian and all those at Lays Lake Hunting Club are now part of the Patriot Hunts Family, and we look forward to sharing another campfire next year. “Makin Bacon 2012″ is coming!

Hey Ken, I read your commentary and viewed the pictures from the Daniel “Lucas” Elliott Memorial Carwash that you posted on line. Totally awesome Sir. Wish I could have been there for that event. Your comments are from the heart, and I am sure these new found friends will follow the great deeds that are to come with Patriot Hunts. You have a lot to be proud of Ken! Jack

  6. Ken, I just wanted to thank you for opening up your property and organizing the hunt. Once again I am in awe of your organization and of course your personal generosity. I was amazed to see the raffle prize table overflowing with great donations from the sponsors and I myself managed to come away with some great products, some that I have already used after I got home…and believe it or not I have been wanting to get some new nylon cleaning bristle brushes ;) The food was awesome and I made sure that I got my fill before heading out to the field. I managed to stay medicated enough that I was able to sit in my chair all afternoon and I was able to harvest a small number of doves despite the unusually slow day of hunting. I really enjoyed the whole day and I came away with some great memories. It was my first time dove hunting but hopefully not my last. I’m still very sore today but I wouldn’t change a thing. I always look forward to the Patriot Hunts events because I know that I will for at least one day leave my world of lying in a recliner with my time controlled by a medication schedule and spending it doing something that I always loved to do but because of my health I had to stop doing. Thank you Ken and please let your donors know that their donations are greatly appreciated. Take care, Matt
This letter was submitted to us after our annual military & wounded warrior dove shoot on Sept. 17th. This is why we do what we do. Thanks Husky Liners
